Monk reflects on the rituals of early Christian monks living in isolated, monastic settlements off the west coast of Ireland from the 6th century.

Monk is the final part of a trilogy of collaborations between sculptor Bettina Seitz and videographers Peter Martin and Fionn Rogers, following Underwave (Seitz & Rogers 2020) and Ancestors (Seitz, Martin & Rogers 2021).

Sculptors working with community groups along Sligo beaches to create a series of sand sculptures representing the daughters of Manannán mac Lír, sea god of Irish mythology.
The x queens from a Country Under Wave wove a cloak as a peace offering for Cúchullainn, the young warrior, who challenged their father to a dual.

Sligo artist Rebecca Jobson explores the geographical and metaphysical layers of County Sligo's monumental landscape through painting, print, installations and textiles. In framing this ancient region and its tombs as a ‘basin of attraction’ that draws in and cradles life, her work captures a deep cycle of life and lore rooted in the land for millennia.
